MalaysiaParkside Flexibles Group has announced the opening of a new world class facility in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Dato Mukriz Mahathir, Malaysia’s deputy minister of international trade and industry, opened Parkside Flexibles first overseas production facility in Kuala Lumpur last March. Parkside believes its new manufacturing base will enable greater strategic alignment with its customers and will deliver further growth for the business whilst improving the supply chain to its Asian customer base.
In addition to providing state-of-the-art laminating and coating technology, Parkside believes the time is right to bring high quality flexographic print to Asia.
The second phase of the investment will see the new production unit equipped with a flexographic press to further enhance its product range in the region. The company has chosen to install only flexographic printing machinery for its unparalleled flexibility, speed-to-market and cost efficiency.
Parkside’s strategy of continual improvement and investment in innovation has enabled them to develop a range of innovative products for the tobacco industry ranging from registered heat seal paper to its revolutionary ‘lock n peel’ RYO pouch technology. At the same time investment in the ‘Flexo’ process, has narrowed the quality gap on traditional gravure printing. Parkside call it ‘Extreme Flexo’ and it allows the company to deliver more dots per inch, to print vignettes and to produce sharper illustrations than ever before. As a result, many customers are moving designs from gravure to ‘Flexo’ to benefit from the lower plate costs and faster response times which are essential for today’s market.
The new Kuala Lumpur facility will further expand Parkside’s position at the cutting edge of the tobacco packaging industry, supplying some of the largest tobacco manufacturing companies in all global regions.
