SPI Developments Ltd (SPI), a leading supplier of adhesive and flavor application systems to the worldwide tobacco industry, has launched an updated website, www.spidevelopments.com.

The website focuses on the SPI’s core abilities and its main range of products, including: PVA application systems for cigarette, cigar and filter makers; hot melt application systems for filter makers; hot and cold flavoring systems for all types of rod makers and foil mentholization systems; multiple liquid application systems; modules for machine building companies to integrate into their machine designs and special product and process development capabilities.
It provides access for site visitors to details of the latest equipment variations, allows them to download basic product brochures and gives contact details for carrying out further enquiries.
The website will be updated on a regular basis, particularly when new developments are brought to market.
SPI welcomes enquiries from potential customers regarding both existing equipment and potential product and process innovations based on its core areas of expertise of PVA, hot melt and hot and cold flavor application equipment.

Tobacco & Public Health: Time to Move On?

By: Chris Crawley It will surprise some in the public health community, but originally the tobacco industry never intended to harm its customers with a new product: manufactured cigarettes. Why would it? It didn’t occur to the fledgling cigarette business that smoking cigarettes may be harmful. On the contrary when cigarettes were first produced they were considered a great idea. They were smaller, much more convenient and easier to carry than cigars. The packaging was novel. What wasn’t to like? They entirely suited a modern world on the move.
