Analyze That! The New Generation of NIR Analyzers from Moisttech

Staff Report

MoistTech of Moorpark CA USA has announced the release of version three of its world leading NIR analyzer range. The new generation incorporates an updated and improved version of its popular 828 Tobacco Analyzer.
Increasing demands from industry for technology to improve process capability and rapidly developing electronic and PC technologies have spurred Moisttech’s research and development to focus on updating its gauge platform using the very latest software and hardware available.

As with all Moisttech technologies, the concept of an embedded PC and software compatibility over previous models that can be upgraded via the internet have kept Moistech gauges at the cutting edge of NIR technology. “Today we are all used to plug-and-play technology with the capability to upgrade our device software by simply connecting to the Internet,” said Sean Herrington, director of Moisttech USA. “Being in California and close to Silicon Valley gives us access to some great and innovative concepts to incorporate into our industrial equipment.”

Industry demands user-friendly, plug-and-play technology that will interface seamlessly with plant control systems. With the introduction of the new generation of 828 Tobacco Analyzer, Moisttech has delivered a unit that satisfies these demands while offering more processing power.
“The units incorporate every communication protocol required by the industry,” according to Herrington. “The new 828 Tobacco Analyzer is an upgradable device that can be kept up-to-date whenever new software becomes available. The electronics used in the new generation 828 analyzers are cutting edge, and with the faster processing speeds of our new embedded PC we are able to analyze faster and manipulate the data in the background of the system to provide the customer with even more reliable and stable measurement data to control their process.”
The new upgrade, the third in 10 years, is in keeping with the company mantra: Moisttech – on the leading edge of NIR technology, Herrington told Tobacco Asia.
“The Moisttech advantage is clear,” he said. “We base the system on a software platform, so we are very flexible and can take advantage of new technology very rapidly. We have released three upgrades of our platform over a 10-year period, and we are the only NIR manufacturer to have achieved this. The advantage of the new 828 can be clearly seen in its operation and the results it delivers. It is easy to use and provides improved analysis results setting a new NIR industry benchmark.”

Tobacco & Public Health: Time to Move On?

By: Chris Crawley It will surprise some in the public health community, but originally the tobacco industry never intended to harm its customers with a new product: manufactured cigarettes. Why would it? It didn’t occur to the fledgling cigarette business that smoking cigarettes may be harmful. On the contrary when cigarettes were first produced they were considered a great idea. They were smaller, much more convenient and easier to carry than cigars. The packaging was novel. What wasn’t to like? They entirely suited a modern world on the move.
