The country of Belarus continues to struggle with the effects of the recent currency devaluation. As a result of new regulations issued by the Ministry of Economy, prices for cigarettes in Belarus rose by as much as 40% on September 20.
Both home-made cigarettes and imported cigarettes were affected.
Of the brands made by AAT Nyoman in Hrodna, the price for Korona has increased by 23% per pack, Minsk and Premyer by 29%, Gamour by 42%, Kent by 40%, Lucky Strike by 41% and Monte Carlo Super Slims by 28.5%.
Among the cigarettes produced by TAA Tabak-Invest based in Minsk, Camel’s price rose by 36% per pack, Monte Carlo by 28% and Winston by 41%.
The prices of imported cigarettes went up by 12% for Davidoff, 20% for Dunhill, 8% for Sobranie and 10% for Vogue.
The previous price hike on June 26 saw the prices of cigarettes go up by as little as 0.7% in some cases and by as much as 90% in others.
